Breathe, Stretch, Listen, Restore
Develop a yoga practice specific to your lifestyle and needs, integrating
breath and body awareness, movement, meditation, and relaxation.
Listen deeply and tune into your own inner wisdom and intuition with clear guidance and support that is unique to you: your body, your needs, your life, your soul’s journey.
Drawing on the teachings and practices of yoga, meditation, and other wisdom traditions, together we will explore and create new healthy habits and practices that will inspire and empower you to make and sustain whatever changes you want to make.
A Personalized Approach to Learning Yoga
Before being mass-marketed in the West, yoga was traditionally passed on directly from teacher to student, in a one-to-one relationship. Teacher and student developed an in-depth relationship that allowed the teachings and practices to be adapted to the unique needs and personality of the student.
Private Yoga honours this 1-on-1 tradition and allows us to work together to create a simple practice sequence that supports and nourishes you, along with healthy habits and mindful awareness that can be integrated into your daily life.
Private Yoga starts us on a path of healing, bringing a wholistic approach to healing from injury, illness and pain. Vickie is trained in a “Pain Care Aware” approach to yoga, and used yoga and meditation to recover from a serious accident herself. With this depth of training and personal experience, she brings added understanding and compassion to her students.
Yoga is really a practice of deep listening on all levels: body, mind, heart and soul. Mindful body and breath awareness combined with the art of deep listening, are the twin pillars of practice to help you develop your own intuitive wisdom to take your practice off your mat and into your daily life.
How do I get started?
1. Book a free 30 minute online consult
To answer your questions, discuss your needs and intentions, and discern how we can best work together.
2. Start with a 90-minute assessment
To get to know you, help clarify your intentions, create a plan of action, and a short practice you can take home to right away.
Together, we decide to meet weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly for a set period of time depending on your needs, intentions, and budget.
As a trained yoga and meditation teacher, all sessions have a set fee. However, if you are experiencing financial hardship, we can work out a solution.
3. Ongoing sessions are 60 minutes long
Consistent sessions provide accountability and motivation to stay on track, allowing us to adjust your practice as you begin to progress and experience the benefits of a regular yoga practice. and allow us to adapt, add on, and progress your practice according to your needs and intentions.
Your unique home practice may include:
- Short trauma-informed practices that can be integrated into your daily life to regulate your nervous system and manage stress.
- Mindful movement and breath, integrated with yoga postures and gentle stretching to release tight muscles, and restore energy flow.
- Meditation and breathwork tailored to your needs and personality.
- Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation) to release deeply held tension, fatigue and pain.
An email with your home practice sequence will be sent to you and will evolve slowly over time as you do.
