Teachers > Olivier Barrette

Olivier grew up in Montreal and moved to Lethbridge in 2012. He started to practice yoga after reading about its benefits for auto-immune diseases. After three years of practice, he decided to do his teacher training course at the Sivananda Ashram in Val-Morin, Quebec. For Olivier, the best part about practicing and teaching yoga is making connections with other people and helping them to feel their best.

Olivier is also working as a personal trainer, and sees yoga as a great complement to other forms of exercise as it can develop strength and fitness and can help to prevent injuries.  For Olivier, yoga is about developing balance and consciousness in one's life. The practice of yoga itself is balanced in that it places emphasis on strength, fitness, flexibility, relaxation, community, and mental and spiritual growth. Yoga promotes consciousness of our bodies' strengths and limitations, of the foods that we eat, and of the emotions that we feel. Developing this consciousness can lead to improved health and a greater enjoyment of life.
