Boycott Starbucks, Rebuild Haiti

February 16th, 2010

Starbucks took quite a price increase on all their beverages in January. When I went to order my usual Tea Misto, it went up from around $2.00 to $4.00 per drink (double the price!). This seems quite excessive and greedy to me and it really bothered me that Starbucks would seek to take advantage of their loyal customer base. I sent several emails to them, but it seems that customer service does not apply online.
However as I watched the footage of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, I found myself thinking “here am I worrying about the cost of my Tea Misto when there is so much pain and suffering in the world”. So I have decided to donate what I would usually spend at Starbucks in a month (about $60) to relief efforts to help build Haiti.
Are you also tired of corporations like Starbucks taking unfair price increases.  Perhaps you would like to join me in giving up your latte and donating to relief efforts.  I invite your comments and action!

Spontaneous Acts of Joy

November 23rd, 2009

There is a new phenomenon spreading around the world.  In city centers, busy train stations, people are taking time out of their day to spontaneously burst into song, to dance, to be free…

This download will bring joy to your heart:Spontaneous Dance of Joy (Make sure you have the sound on).

What does this have to do with yoga?  To me, this is the essence of yoga, feeling joy in the moment and responding spontaneously in the moment without judgement.

Farewells and Welcomes

September 4th, 2009

It is with a bit of sadness but with our Best Wishes that we say good-bye to Brenna. Brenna has moved to Nelson for a bit of a change in scenery.  We will miss her energizing classes and gentle spirit.  She says she might be back in January, but I think she might be seduced by Nelsons relaxed way of life.

We welcome new teachers Susan Drblik and Karen Toohey!

Susan is completing her training in Anusara Yoga and will be teaching Yoga Basics and Alignment in Motion, as well as Yoga Thrive classes at the University and YMCA.

Karen has recently completed her Level 3 Teacher Training with Trinity/Gaiatri Yoga and will be teaching Yoga for Athletes as well as Ashtanga Basics

Welcome Back Gina

Gina is back teaching her Yoga to Unwind on Wed evenings as well as Yoga Thrive for Cancer Survivors on Tuesday evenings.
